- Carefree Cove is centrally located near Boone, NC. The area is know as the High Country because it averages 3,300 feet above sea level.
- The High Country consists of 3 counties, Ashe, Watauga and Avery. Carefree Cove sits on the border of Ashe and Watauga, near the Tennessee-North Carolina border.
- Appalachian State University has a beautiful campus and offers educational, cultural and sports opportunities. Founded in 1899, it was named Time Magazine’s College of the Year in 2001.

- Watauga Medical Center is a 117-bed regional referral medical complex, offering both primary and secondary acute and specialty care, with a 24-hour physician staffed emergency department.
- Wal-Mart, Lowes Hardware, Staples office supply store, Harris Teeter, Ingles and Lowes grocery stores which stock foods for the gourmet cook.
- A large, wonderful variety of restaurants for the discriminating palette.
- Shopping not only in Boone but also in Blowing Rock and the other surrounding communities will satisfy every “shop-a-holic”!
